Braxfield Recruitment are a leading recruitment agency working within the social housing sector. We have been appointed by a housing provider based in North West London who are currently looking to recruit a Head of Rent Accounting on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring service delivery for all aspects of rent setting and processing and the annual rent review.
You will maintain a broad overview of business challenges and adopt strategies to drive the business forward to achieve long-term goals, taking an active role in rent and income related projects and contributing towards achieving their objectives.
You’ll be responsible for rent related policies and procedures, ensuring that they are amended promptly and with any changes communicated to all parties.
Other duties as Head of Rent Accounting will include:
- Managing a team providing service delivery on all aspects of income collections of circa £137 million per annum across all tenures including, quarterly sundry debtors invoices production; monthly sundry debtors’ reports and a full range of services to ensure delivery for all aspects or rents including receipts inputting.
- Setting all rent processes across all tenancies and re-lets, documenting procedures and escalating issues.
- Working with management accounts to produce annual rent budgets and monitor monthly performance.
- Carrying out monthly suspense account reviews and liaising with the income team to identify opportunities to improve rent cash allocation and arrears recover.

To be considered for the position of Head of Rent Accounting you must have the following:
- Good understanding of key housing legislation, best practice and current issues.
- Understanding of welfare reform and the effect on customers.
- Previous line management or supervisor experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to manage, organise and prioritise your own workload and that of the team you manage.
- Ability to liaise and negotiate effectively with residents and colleagues.
- Extensive experience of income collection and service charge management in social housing.
- Experience of working in partnership with support agencies, local authority and community groups.
